I'm trying to build R-2.4.0 on a rather old mac powerbook, using Simon's
gcc403.dmg. Things go smoothly until:
rudjer: sudo make install
Password:
make[1]: Nothing to be done for `install'.
make[1]: Nothing to be done for `install'.
installing doc ...
help2man: can't get `--version' info from ../bin/R
make[1]: *** [R.1] Error 22
make: *** [install] Error 1
I know that there was some earlier discussion of this, but my reading
of the tea leaves from that discussion suggested that the problem should have
been resolved in the 2.4.0 release. The suggestion of Kieran Healy
https://stat.ethz.ch/pipermail/r-sig-mac/2006-May/002925.html
still works, but somehow I assume that there is something wrong with my
configuration.
