Thank you. That's true that after including an individual-level random effect, the model seems to be "magically" perfect, which may be doubtful. But it is certainly still a 
better choice than the overdispersed binomial model. I do not know about beta-binomial. I will have a look at it. Is there a good R package for computing it?
