Description: A 3 year postdoctoral Research Fellow position in
statistical analysis of omics
data applied to immunology is available at Bordeaux School of Public Health
(http://www.isped.u-bordeaux2.fr/) and within the Epidemiology and
Biostatistics Research
Center. This position involves developing and applying statistical and
computational methods
for analysis of high-throughput omic data in clinical studies applied
to immunology.
The position is located in the Biostatistics unit (head: Daniel
Commenges, former editor of
Biometrics) in Bordeaux (France) with a strong collaboration with Prof
Yves Levy’s team
(Henri Mondor, Paris, France) and Jacques Banchereau (Baylor Institute
for Immunnology,
Dallas, Texas). The work will be done inside an important program for
vaccine development
in AIDS research funded by the French National Agency for AIDS
research (ANRS) and will
involve data from several clinical trials. An example of dataset to
analyse consisted of
repeated data of gene expression of peripheral blood mononuclear cells
after a vaccination of
HIV-1 infected patients with ex-vivo generated dendritic cells loaded
with HIV-1 lipopeptides
in addition to antiretroviral treatment.
The position requires the availability to visit collaborators in
United States at the Baylor
Institute and other relevant teams to learn the current knowledge on
the topics and
bioinformatics methods. The work will be devoted to the development of
statistical methods
and the analysis of omics data in the Biostatistics unit (Bordeaux,
France) in close
collaboration with the above mentioned teams.
The ideal candidate would have a Ph. D. in bioinformatics,
biostatistics, computer science, or
statistical genomics, published research in bioinformatics or related
areas, and excellent
programming skills. Experience with one or more of the following is a
strong plus: data
analysis in immunology, high throughput data analysis, bioinformatics
software development.
The work will involve both methodological research with department faculty and
collaboration with subject matter researchers.
Additional Information: Scientific questions regarding this position
can be sent to Dr
Rodolphe Thiébaut at rodolphe.thiebaut at isped.u-bordeaux2.fr. To apply,
send cover letter
describing your research interests and interest in the position, with
detailed CV and names of
three references. Application materials should be sent by email to Dr
Rodolphe Thiébaut at
