One three-year PhD position at the Department of Mathematical Sciences of NTNU in Trondheim is announced for our new research project entitled

"Penalised Complexity-priors: A new tool to define default priors and robustify Bayesian models"

The project is lead by Havard Rue and Andrea Riebler (both from NTNU) and founded by the Research Council of Norway.

The main objective in this project is to develop a new framework for specifying a class of default priors at model level. The project is built upon the work described in http://arxiv.org/abs/1403.4630 and aims to facilitate the ways priors are determined in practice and robustify Bayesian analyses. The results are independent of any software, whereby one project goal is the integration into the Bayesian inference system R-INLA (www.r-inla.org).

The successful applicant should have a Master's degree or equivalent qualification in statistics or a related discipline. Prior experience in Bayesian statistics, computational methodology and/or knowledge of R are considered a strong asset.

The position will start in August 2015 and will be for three years. The official announcement of the position by NTNU will be coming soon. If you are interested in the position and/or want to know more, please contact Andrea Riebler (Email: andrea.riebler using math.ntnu.no). Interested candidates can also immediately send a CV.
