Dear Ladies and Gentlemen,

It is our great pleasure to invite you to the workshop on

"Statistical Issues in Compressive Sensing"

during November 11-13, 2013 at Georg August University, Goettingen, Germany.

So far, the following speakers have agreed to give a talk:
Timo Aspelmeier (Göttingen)
Emmanuel Candès (Stanford)
Lawrence Carin (Durham, USA)
Rui Castro (Eindhoven)
Volkan Cevher (Lausanne)
Sara van de Geer (Zürich)
Florent Krzakala (Paris)
Gitta Kutyniok (Berlin)
Holger Rauhut (Aachen)
Rayan Saab (San Diego)

Aim and Scope:

Theory and applications of compressive sensing have being developed rapidly during the last decade.
>From the very beginning, a number of statistical issues have been central but are still unexplored to some extent.
This includes convergence analysis of sensing algorithms under statistical noise, Bayesian modeling and reconstruction, and more recently sequential and online approaches, to mention a few topics of current research.
The goal of this workshop is twofold: First, we attempt to bring together researchers who have been working on statistical issues in compressive sensing. Second, problems from various areas of applications will be discussed, which statistical approaches may help to solve.

The regular conference fee is 200€, for PhD students 100€. It includes several meals, conference dinner, excursion to a local brewery, coffee and beverages.

PhD students and Post-Doctoral staff have the opportunity to take part in the Poster-Session at the workshop.
Among the participants we are able to award travel grants:
· 200€ for participants from Germany
· 400€ for participants from Europe
· 600€ for overseas participants
Please note: Because of administrative reasons the conference fee cannot be covered by the grant.

If you want to apply for a travel grant or take part in the Poster Session, please contact for916 using stochastik.math.uni-goettingen.de until October 13 2013.
