asMatrix() instead of as.matrix() ??

I just see the new function, an S3 generic asMatrix()
with some methods in the "fSeries" commits.

Why that?
Why don't you define methods for as.matrix() ??

As very active co-author of the "Matrix" package
(which defines S4 matrix classes, dense and sparse,
 all using "Matrix" with an uppercase "M"), I'm particularly
puzzled.

as.matrix() is *THE* year-long well-documented S3 generic
for defining "traditional" matrices....

??

Apart from that.. Merry Christmas !!!
