[R-sig-ME] hatTrace in current version of lme4

Hello!  I'm trying to re-implement some code to calculate Vaida and 
Blanchard's Conditional AIC for mixed models 
(https://stat.ethz.ch/pipermail/r-help/2008-February/154389.html ) and 
it seems that between the version that code was written for and this, 
the hatTrace function has dropped out of the package.  Has anyone 
implemented a calculation of the Hat matrix lately?
