[R-sig-ME] MCMCglmm installation error

Is there an alternative option to upgrading R? 
I'm trying to run MCMCglmm on my school's grid 
server, and the version of R is outdated (circa October 
2009). I was thinking perhaps an older version of 
MCMCglmm might do the trick (like those at 
http://cran.r-project.org/src/contrib/Archive/MCMCglmm/)
, but I haven't been able to figure out how to make 
that work yet. Thanks for your help!
