[R-SIG-Mac] R-GUI-6783-3.1-mavericks-Release.dmg requires X11?

Quick follow-up.

Does this mean that X11 starts automatically whenever R.app is launched?

It seems like a waste of resources to have X11 (besides having to wait for it to start).
