[R-SIG-Mac] generate random samples

Hi,
I a newbie, I work with a mac.
Is there any package that I can use to generate random samples for  
arbitrary distribution, that is , user defined distribution ？

like the simplest
 > x <- rnorm( something )

and that is a normal distribution.
