[R-SIG-Mac] Using a second monitor, running R under Unix

so, I cannot tell. What I was aware of is that quartz window server  
needs a "connection to a screen", not a virtual one, which  meant it  
was not possible to launch  R itself when you were connected remotely  
to a server (like you usually do with X11). So, at that time, we  
patched R not use/load quartz code until an explicit use of the quartz 
() device was required by the user, and then the error you see was  
raised by the system at the time of a quartz() call.
Just historical remarks, but not helpful in your case.
