[R-SIG-Mac] jpeg and png problems on intel mac

Hi,

I'm setting up an intel-based mac for the first time and am having
trouble getting jpeg and png support to work.

I downloaded and installed the jpeg and png libs using:

curl -s -S http://r.research.att.com/jpegpng-quad.tar.gz|sudo tar fxz - -C /

When I run configure for R, it tells me that jpeg and png are found
and will be supported.

Building R completes without error, but then I get:

> capabilities()
    jpeg      png    tcltk      X11 http/ftp  sockets   libxml     fifo 
   FALSE    FALSE     TRUE     TRUE     TRUE     TRUE     TRUE     TRUE 
  cledit    iconv      NLS  profmem 
    TRUE     TRUE     TRUE     TRUE 

I'm using X code 2.4.1 with the gfortran from the att website.

Any ideas?
