[R-SIG-Mac]R and Altivec

I don't think so. R does not have single precision either. The Darwin/X11
version (at lest the most recent ones) uses the ATLAS libraries from
fink, which do use Altivec for single precision. It's regrettable, but
I don't think it can be fixed easily (of course one could an altivec
version of the Matrix package, for instance).
Current versions of R do not take much advantage of MP machines
either, but I understand there is some work on threading going on.
