R Package Developer / Consulting Statistician 
Burlington, Vermont

Precision Bioassay is a small and growing statistical consulting
firm specializing in the design and analysis of biological assays of
pharmaceutical proteins and vaccines. We are building a turnkey software
solution for cell culture bioassay that integrates optimal design of
bioassay experiments, implementation of designs using robotic pipettors,
and potency analysis using linear and nonlinear mixed models. This
software is intended for use in a highly regulated industry. Portions
of the code development for this project will be assigned to you.

Role/Responsibilities

  * Function as an integral member of a team of highly-skilled professionals
  * Elicit and document functional requirements and specifications
  * Collaborate in development of core analytic modules (coded in R)
  * Participate in development of web-based GUI to core analytic modules
  * Analyze bioassay data for clients in assay development and validation, 
    sometimes requiring development of novel methodologies

Qualifications

  * Three or more years experience in developing packages in the R language 
  * Experience in either building web interfaces for technical applications 
    or building database-integrated applications in R 
  * Experience with applications and theory of linear and nonlinear 
    mixed effects models
  * Good writing and communication skills 
  * MS or PhD in Statistics, Biostatistics, or equivalent 

Additional Desired Experience

  * Fluency in administrating Linux for a multi-platform environment 
  * Experience configuring and administering Apache 
  * Experience with JavaScript, PHP, Ruby, Python, and/or MySQL 
  * Experience with interfaces to equipment, especially lab automation 
  * Statistical consulting experience in biotechnology, nonclinical 
    pharmaceutical or agricultural applications 

Reports to: Dr. David Lansky

Classification: Permanent, full-time position.
