[R-sig-hpc] undesired forking from either doMC, foreach or multicore

Michael,

We've been using foreach/doMC on a very similar machine for 6-8 months
now (but not plyr) and I don't think we've ever seen this.  However, I
know plyr depends on itertools and iterators, and iterators suggests
foreach, so I wonder if this is a problem relating to the use of plyr
within the body of a foreach loop?

It would be curious to try the same code with doSNOW.
