[R-sig-hpc] Getting multithreaded R working (solution)

Folks:

This may have already been posted here, but I have a step-by-step
guide to getting a multithreaded version of R working with the
GotoBlas2 package -- I never was able to get atlas configured for
multiple threads, but gotoblas2 took all of 30 seconds to accomplish

P.S. If anyone has *easy* instructions for getting atlas working as a
multithreaded library or how do drop in the Intel MKL (I couldn't
figure out which *.so would be the correct one) please let me know and
I'll post them as well.
