The Eucalyptus project from UCSB provides 'plug and play' Amazon-compatible
cloud services for your local lan. As of last week's Ubuntu release '9.04',
it is even included there. I am now sure excatly how featureful it is right
now -- apparently more is coming with the 9.10 release in September.
So google 'Eucalyptus Ubuntu' for a few blog posts and web pages on this. If
cost is a concern, or if you want to keep it local for security or privacy
reason, the Eucalyptus may be an alternative.
