[R-sig-Geo] Spatial Statistics

Hello,
I have some animal disease data which I wanted to spatially analyse using R though very new with using the software. Data has several variables which I will be looking to analyse as some of the factors that explain disease distribution in eight regions of England. Any clue how I go about the analysis including making some disease maps for the two years - 2011 and 2012?
