I don't think anyone here knows what blog, and I don't see a link to it. 
Note that this list is plain text only, and your posting is HTML.

Please consult Oscar Perpigñan's book, in which he explains that what you 
are trying to do isn't smart, and shows how to use his package rasterVis. 
You need to import the raster file as a georeferenced raster file - 
guessing where things are may be acceptable for artistic wallpaper, but is 
no use in analysis.
