[R-sig-Geo] SimpleITK from within R

Luis Ibañez, one of the leading developers of the ITK image processing
library, gave an excellent seminar on ITK and SimpleITK in Barcelona

We could try SimpleITK, which implements ITK for being used within python.
Luis also mentioned the current efforts to have SimpleITK from
within R:

Considering SimpleITK works nicely within python,
perhaps package rpy2 could also be a way.
