[R-sig-Geo] setting user path for gpsbabel use with readgps

Hello,

sorry maybe a newbie question but how can I set the user path for the use of the readGPS() in maptools?
I want to import obviously gpx data... any other tips how to do that quick and easy?
I am using eclipse with the statet plugin for my r scripting  on windows 7 (if  that makes an difference)
