Thank you Johan for the clarification.
Given this limitation with gstat, I was wondering if there is any package in R or so that supports kriging with anisotropy modelling using great circle distance. Or is gstat going to be developed to overcome this limitation? Thank you in advance!

As you can read from the error message, nothing is wrong with your
code or with gstat, but anisotropy is not supported when you use great
circle distances.
