[R-sig-eco] Fitting hydrological distributions: bring pkg FAmle back to life?

Dear hydro- and ecologists,

package FAmle from Francois Aucoin has been very useful for fitting
distributions to hydrological (and other) data. It comes with extensive
examples and a well-written package vignette. Unfortunately, CRAN
removed it from the main repository and put it to the archive, because
it did not pass some formal package tests.

I had a look at it and it was very easy to fix the few purely formal
issues. It is now ready to be uploaded to CRAN again but the original
package author works in another field and seems to look for a
new maintainer.

My question: is there anyone out there who uses package FAmle or other
packages supporting maximum likelihood and Bayesian distribution fitting?
