Thanks for asking on list!

(Technically, 'r2u' is a repository. The package manager is 'apt', it
accesses the repositories.)

(PPA is a term used by Ubuntu for repositories at their launchpad.net. We are
not really part of that. So again: 'repository'. And you should have only one.

You should not need to because ... it should just upgrade as part of the
whole Ubuntu upgrade you do from 24.04 to 26.04.
| Any advice regarding this migration to Ubuntu 26.04 is appreciated.
One of the 'side effects' of being a distribution-level repository is that
when you upgrade from one Ubuntu release to the next, this should be
transferred automatically just like every other repository you have listed in
/etc/apt/sources.list.d/. So for example my laptop went that way to 26.04
too.
One minor caveat: Apparently the Ubuntu developers do not often see a
third-party repository responsible for hundreds of installed packages so my
laptop got a 'notice' and I think it by default disabled the repository. That
is similar to what with repository entries for chrome, zoom, spotify, ... so
I always manually ensure all are back on.
So in short: "nothing special, really" as it should work as part of a normal
Ubuntu upgrade. For which there are lots of blog posts and tutorials so you
may find one of those helpful for the general idea of what an update.
For what it is worth, I have been running Ubuntu for nearly as long as they
have existed, and I tend to upgrade every six months. (Which with r2u is a
another story but I wrote about it in the FAQ at
https://eddelbuettel.github.io/r2u/vignettes/FAQ/ )
Hope this helps, Dirk
