Hi Jeff: I have MySQL 5.1 up an running on my machine and I am using it
so I don't think this is the issue. It shouldn't matter but, I used the
XAMPP build to install MySQL instead of using the source binaries. I also
have a MySQL ODBC connector installed so I can use MySQL with open office.

So where do I go from here?

Cheers, Bryan

See http://biostat.mc.vanderbilt.edu/RMySQL

You haven't installed the MySQL client libraries.

Jeff
