You have a syntax error:

> dat.<-read.table(''chesire_fmd.cvs'',header=TRUE,sep='',)
Error: unexpected symbol in "dat.<-read.table(''chesire_fmd.cvs"

notice the

sep='',

probably should be

sep = ','
