Overfulls and Underfulls are not errors, but warnings, that TeX
cannot break lines optimally (you know, the author of TeX is kind
of perfectionist). Actually, Underfulls mean basically nothing
for you. Overfull on the other hand (especially if ``too wide''
is bigger) will results in some lines overflowing to the margins.

Given that anything which should be called TeX is supposed to
create binary same dvi on the output, you really shouldn't make
much difference on the output with different TeX distribution
(unless there are newer versions of the LaTeX/texinfo
stylefiles).

The results: if the file seems to be OK in windvi (or yap), than
it is OK and don't bother. If there is something ugly on the
output, learn how to work with LaTeX/texinfo files (I do not
know, which package is used by R), find the particular one and
make the corrections.
