Well I finally managed to get Xdarwin and R running on my Mac under
OSX. Having turned my Mac into a UNIX box is a bit disconcerting but
. . .
My problem now is how to get help to run - either as html or via R. I
am sure it is my stupidity but any suggestions would be most welcome.

By the way if I run Stefano's OS9 R binary (current version) I can't
seem to get the eps of any graphics into my Latex program ( using
graphics.sty or graphix.sty). The text goes wonky. Has anyone else
noticed this problem - and if so is there a fix?

These are of course minor grips about a wonderful language.
