Apologies for continuing this off-topic thread, but it demands a correction.

That would rather be me as I adopted the (IMHO fairly ill-conceived)
task-science package. Among other fixes, I added r-base to its Depends:.

While this does not strike me as the most efficient forum for such a Debian
specific discussion, I would of course welcome any comments on Debian's
task-science package. The whole concept of task-* package will probably be
revisited anyway.
