Both binary and ascii saves on R-1.1.1 on Linux load into rw1011 under NT4
on my laptop, either if I copy the Linux ext2 file to NTFS under NT
or if I use a common FAT16 file system. And, if I do the latter, the
reverse works.

(Indeed, loads of ASCII saves must work, as lots of packages contain .rda
files saved on Unix/Linux, and they all do load into rw1011.)

I do think a Windows Netscape download is likely to mangle things.
Try putting the files in a zip file for the duration of the transfer.
