[R] does xaxt="n" work

Yes, this is a bug in 1.0.0 which has been reported 
and has been fixed for the patch release "R-release" quite a while ago
(The "R-release" daily snapshot is available from CRAN
 and will become 1.0.1 some time).

Opinions may differ here, but IMHO, this is the worst bug
(that we know of ...) in R 1.0.0.

Anyway, the workaround is simple (but ugly):

Instead of

	plot(.... , xaxt = "n")
use

	op <- par(xaxt = "n")
	plot(....)
	par(op)

{{and of course the same applies to  yaxt}}.
