Is there a way to tell the extents of e.g. "Some text" on a
plot, i.e. how wide and how high is it in usr coordinates
(with a given pointsize, font and cex=) ??

Or, (that is why I need it): is there a way to put a table on a plot
with right, resp. left-aligned colums. Or even with decimal
points aligned?
