[R] Compilation problem `with X11' [was "(no subject)"]

Now my wild guess from the above insufficient Info:
If you are using Linux, you may have had an installation withOUT 
the package of files for developing X11 programs,  often called
 "x11-devel".  
You need these for compiling R  
    (and many other neat programs you may want to compile in the future)
