R-beta: R0.62.3 installation on RedHat 5.0

I had the same problems, by default the rpm egcs-f77 (or something to this
effect, I did a search on f77 in all RPM files) does not get installed so
it used fort77 and died with the error you mentioned. Install the f77 RPM
and the build should go painless(it did for me).
