Running his example under valgrind (a memory misuse checker on Linux)
does show it using memory it should not be using in the optimization C
code
around where it is copying the gradient vector. The

The details depend on whether gctorture(TRUE) has been called or not,
(and whether the compiler flag -02 has been set or not, as that messes
up the line numbers a bit) but valgrind finds the first memory misuse in
this area. With gctorture it takes quite a long time to get to this
point.
