[Rd] X11() dies in remote background

I use a display on an Xvfb server:

Xvfb :5 -screen 0 1280x1024x24 &
setenv DISPLAY :5

You do most likely need a non-default depth (on my machine the default is 
12 bits), and it is possible you may need to deal with authentication 
issues.
