If it is, it never caused any problem before, with older
versions of R.

This is on a recent distro of SuSE. Don't know what version. The
kernel is 2.4.4-4GB from May 2001. The same problem occured on
HP-UX 10.20 (July 1996).
The problem did not occur on an older version of SuSE for Alpha
from November 1999, or my own RedHat 5.0 (November 1997, I
think).
These are the same four systems mentioned in bug report PR#1499
about unresolved symbols for tcltk.
