Hmm. We try pretty hard not to change the API and otherwise break
package code after 1.0. I think it should be reasonable if you took a
laid-back attitude and assume that things work as they used to unless
you knowingly access new features. If things turn out to be broken
with earlier versions, then blame the core team and update the version
number. If you do use new features and try to blame us, we'll blame
you back...

It would of course be nice if you kept a version of 1.0.1 around and
checked against it, but checking all intermediate versions would be
overdoing it.
