R abnormal exit when plotting lm (PR#308)

Unfortunately, I'm a little bit short of time now, but after the 20th
I will give a try! (I still have a hardcopy of the session, and I will
try to reproduce it step by step. By "running under a debugger" you
mean "R -d gdb", I suppose?).
