[Taken to r-devel]
I tried 1-2 months ago to get R running on AIX ... besides some minor
things which I fixed in the sources everything compiled fine except
the dynloading :-)
It also seemed feasible to get dynloading to work, but you need a text
file containing the names of all objects a .so file wants to
export. As I didn't see an easy way of doing this at INSTALL time for
all our extension packages and wasn't in desperate need of R on AIX I
gave up at that point. I had also contact with people from essen on
this, and they also had no automatic procedure (like a Makefile fix or
so).
Look in the devel mail archives around may, there is a thread on AIX
where Arne Kovac explains the proper linker flags ... you might also
want to contact him to get their dynload.c.
