Peter, your guess with "hardware" was actually quite close :
Considering using some Linux clients with Solaris file- (and other)
servers, we still have user home directories (auto)mounted from the Solaris
File-server.
When I work in such a file-system, I get funny compiler and linker errors
such as above,
also, e.g. Splus 5.1 for Linux sometimes (not always!) can't find the
objects that I create -- when they reside on the mounted file system...
Alas, so much for system integration...
