The bug you reported has been fixed a while ago.

you "only" need to upgrade your version of R.
As you said it's 0.62.2 of July 1998.

Just get 0.64.2 of July 1999...
from any CRAN mirror, ie. in your case from  http://stat.ethz.ch/CRAN/
