I just want to signal to anyone using the develoment (i.e. more
unstable) version of R that (with permission) I have just
incorporated John Chambers' StatLib dataframe code into R and also
rewritten the code for "factors" to more closely resemble that in S.
This is a BIG change (2-3k lines of C code perished in the struggle).
The change seems to work well, but there may be residual problems.
