ESS in Windows: talk to rgui.exe?

Rgui would need to listen on a COM or DCOM port (or one of the older
cross-app communications protocols, names of which escape me now).

Then, Emacs/ESS could send but not receive code.  This has been
discussed before (in the context of XLispStat), but needs
collaboration on both sides.   Rich Heiberger might know a bit more,
he tried to work out the S-PLUS for Windows issues a while back.
