TracingState is a good idea. But I don't see how we can use
isdebugged. Are you proposing to check all the functions that we use,
and then all the functions those functions use, etc?

Yes. Such a function is clearly overdue in R. I think this must be
solved at R level than with some ugly workaround on ESS side.
