[ESS-bugs] new buglet: M-x R-2.8.x shows *R-..* buffer in two windows

Another new bug, probably very rare (and hence not release
critical in my view) but really strange:

If I'm inside *R* as only window my emacs
(e.g. after C-x 1)
and I type  M-x R-2.8.1  {I have installed such an old R version},
emacs asks me for the starting directory,
and then correctly starts R-2.8.1 in a buffer *R-2.8.1*
but then this buffer is shown *twice* in my emacs, i.e.
in two "identical" windows, i.e., 
I end up in an emacs "frame" with two windows.

The really funny thing is that this does *not* happen if I
replace  R-2.8.1  with R-2.15.0, R-2.10.1, or R-devel
but it *does* happen also with R-2.9.1.

VERY strange ...
{and probably not easy to reproduce}.

I may try to look at this during the weekend.
