Aargh...

that (12.09) bug resurfaced again:

Even for a non-existing file  foo.Rnw

     emacs foo.Rnw

then  M-n s
now correctly starts an R process,
but then ends in the error

    -->> No ESS process is associated with this buffer now

[[  exactly one example why we *do* need feature freeze, and
    a 
        "small bug fixes + documentation updates only"  
    time before releasing
