The newly established Robinson group at Institute of Molecular Life Sciences, University of Zurich, has an exciting post-doctoral research opportunity for a motivated and numerically-proficient candidate. The Robinson group develops statistical and computational methods for processing and interpreting genome-scale datasets in close collaboration with biologists, spanning basic and clinical applications. For further information, see <http://tiny.cc/mrobin>.

The new appointee will be working in a multidisciplinary environment with a strong focus on the analysis of data from high-throughput genomic technologies (e.g. massively parallel sequencing). Several exciting projects are now underway, including but not limited to methods for integration and interpretation of epigenome datasets and methods for differential analysis of count (e.g. RNA-seq) data.

We are looking for a talented, motivated, team-oriented scientist with a background in a relevant numerical discipline, such as statistics, mathematics or physics. A solid foundation in data analysis and programming in a Unix/Linux environment is a must. Knowledge of basic biology is an asset, but is not required.

We invite excellent candidates holding a PhD in Bioinformatics or PhD in a numerical discipline with appropriate experience to send their application including CV, brief statement of research interests and relevant data analysis experience, names and email addresses of at least 2 referees before November 11th, 2011 by e-mail to <mark.robinson at imls.uzh.ch>.
