That's not a well posed question. What exactly does 'view the data in a 
plate format' mean?

Do you just want to look at the numerical data in a 8X12 or 16X24 matrix 
or data.frame?

Do you want an image where the color or color intensity is an indicator 
for the underlying data (e.g., a heatmap-type plot)?

Something else?
