[BioC] ESD files from Beckman

Hi all

I've encountered files with an ".esd" extension that are from a Beckman 
CEQ 8000 Genetic Analyser. Can anyone point me to
- a documentation of the format,
- a software to convert this into a more obvious format, or
- a tool in Bioconductor that is aware of this format?

(A Google search did give me any useful hints....)
